Fourteen years after his previous visit to Jerusalem, Paul went up by revelation to communicate that gospel he preached among the Gentiles to the other apostles. Paul needed to defend the gospel of the grace of God. Those from Jerusalem who were putting members of the body of Christ under the law of Moses were wrong to do so as it is contrary to the truth of the gospel of grace. Once the apostles heard what Paul had to say, the apostles at Jerusalem recognized the grace given to Paul and acknowledged that he would continue his ministry to the uncircumcision, while they constrained their ministry to the circumcision.
