The Galatians were frustrating the grace of God by believing that their righteousness was by the law. This thought is a complete departure from the gospel of God's grace. Paul starts back at the beginning of their salvation to remind them how they received the Spirit, righteousness, and justification. Life cannot come by the law, but only by faith. A believer ought to answer this question daily, "Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law? Or by the hearing of faith?"
